EVERYONE DESERVES A CHANCE TO PLAY BASEBALL-SO, LET’S PLAY BALL!
After much consideration the Miracle League Board of Directors has made the decision to resume play for the Spring Season 2021 with the following guidelines and restrictions. While we are optimistic please be aware that the MLP Board reserves the right to make changes for the season at any time.
BUDDY POLICY Volunteer buddies will not be provided this year however buddies can be a family member, caregiver, and or family friend. It would be best to use a family member or an individual that is already in close contact with the player to limit exposure to persons outside the players residence. Should providing a buddy be a hardship (group home members) we ask that you let your coach know as soon as possible. TEMPERATURE CHECKS Temperature checks will be done before coaches, players, and buddies enter the field. Once in the field area all must remain there until completion of the game. Should anyone have a temp over 100.4 they will be asked to leave the park immediately. *MASKS / FACE COVERINGS All coaches, players, buddies and umpires should wear masks / face coverings for the duration of their time in the field area, including dugout. We are aware that some individuals are unable to wear a mask for documented health reasons and request that these situations be discussed with your coach prior to game day. Spectators are asked to social distance according to the CDC guidelines including wearing masks / face coverings. In order to socially distance in the stands spectators are asked to bring their own seating if possible. *OTHER COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS FOR ALL PERSONS PARTICIPATING IN OR WATCHING MLP ACTIVITIES Do not come to the park if you answer yes to any of the following: 1. Within the past 14 days you have had direct contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or if you are waiting on COVID -19 results. 2. Within the past 14 days you had direct contact with persons who may have been exposed to COVID-19. 3. Within the past 14 days you have been told to self-quarantine by any health agency. 4. Every child deserves a chance to play baseball.
The Miracle League of Pensacola provides physically and mentally challenged children a safe and spirited program in which they can hit, run, and catch on a baseball field – just like other kids. MLP offers a unique and memorable opportunity these children would not otherwise have.
The Miracle League of Pensacola is a place where every player plays, every player hits, every player gets on base, every player scores, and every player wins – every inning. Players who need help with hitting, catching, and throwing the ball are paired with a “buddy” who helps out.
Rainer Maria Rilke, a German lyric poet at the turn of the 20th century, wrote: “This is the miracle that happens every time to those who really love; the more they give, the more they possess.” Watch a Miracle League game from the bleachers and you will be moved as you have never been moved at any other athletic event. It will be unforgettable, and you will be glad you were there. Then you will want to come back. Then you will want to do whatever you can to help.
